HILL PALACE MUSEUM

Kerala's first heritage museum. Royal
collections of the erstwhile Maharaja of Kochi.

The Hill Palace, the official residence of the Kochi royal family, is today the largest archaeological museum in Kerala. Built in 1865

Bolgatty Palace

It is the oldest existing Dutch mansion outside Holland surrounded by sea and backwater      

Kalady -Adi Sankara Keerthi Stampa Mandapam

Kalady – Known to be the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya ,the great Advaita philosopher of the 8th century, Kaladi is 10 km from Aluva.

Marine Drive

Marine Drive is a picturesque promenade in Kochi, Kerala, India. It is built facing the backwaters, and is a popular hangout for the local populace. Ironic to its name, no vehicles are allowed on the walkway. Marine Drive is also an economically thriving part of the city of Kochi. With several shopping malls it is as an important centre of shopping activity in Kochi.

The view of the setting and rising sun over the sea mouth, and the gentle breeze from the Vembanad Lake has made Marine Drive an important tourist destination in Kochi.Hundreds of people (both natives, and tourists) throng the walkway during the evenings. The walkway starts from the High Court Junction and continues until the Rajendra Maidan. There are also several boat jetties along the walkway.

BHOOTHATHANKETTU

Bhoothathankettu, a scenic damsite with boating facilities is situated in a vast virgin forest.Lying close to Bhoothathankettu is the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary at Thattekkad.

It is 50 km north east of Ernakulam town, Ernakulam district, central Kerala.

CHERAI BEACH

The lovely beach bordering the Vypeen island is ideal for swimming. The beach is near to Vypeen Island accessible by boat (30 minutes, journey) from Ernakulam

FORT KOCHI

Fort Kochi is about 13 km from Ernakulam town.Here we can see Chinese fishing nets along the Vasco Da Gama Square, Santa Cruz Basilica, St.Francis Church, VOC Gate, Bastion Bungalow etc.

DUTCH PALACE, MATTANCHERRY

This palace is built by the Portuguese in 1557 and presented to Raja Veera Kerala Varma of Kochi. The palace with a Bhagavathi temple in the central courtyard is built like the typical Kerala style mansion - the Nalukettu - the home of the aristocracy, nobility and upper classes, with four separate wings opening out to a central courtyard.

It is 10 kms far from Ernakulam.

MALAYATTOOR CHURCH

Situated about 47 km from Kochi, Malayattoor is famous for the Catholic Church, located on top of the Malayattoor hill, at a height of 609 mts. Dedicated to St. Thomas the apostle of Jesus Christ, thousands of pilgrims gather here for the annual festival of 'Malayatoor Perunnal',held during the months of March /April.

  • Synagogue in Mattanchery – A historic monument which attracts many visitors. Once used to be place of  congregation for the Jewish Community clustered in Mattanchery and surrounding places, who have left India for Israel.
  • St. Francis Church, Fort Kochi – An architectural marvel, where the remains of the Portugese explorer Vasco – Da - Gama lie intered.
  • Bolgatty Palace – The Palace itself, which has been turned into a five star hotel and the Island itself which is called Bolgatty attract tourists.
  • Kerala History Museum, Edappally – cituated on NH-47 on the way to Always holds a rare collection of historic monuments.
  • Hill Palace, Thrippunithura- cituated on the Ernakulam – Vaikkom – Muvattupuzha state highway. As a wide area holding a variety of historic monuments for the tourists go around and see.
  • Thrissur Zoo – A wide variety of animals which attract a large number of visitors.
  • Athirappally, Vazhahal waterfalls – Natural waterfalls easily accessible from the highway are a much visited tourist spot.
  • Kalady – Known to be the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya, one of the Shrines established by the sage himself is cituated in Kalady is also the center of Sanskrit Studies, the Kerala Sanskrit being cituated there.
  • Kodanadu – cituated in the Malayattur Hills, Kodanadu is famous as an elephant sanctuary.
